In her podcast, Shu Zhong proposed the analogy that we should all treat ourselves like a dog. In that she means:
- A dog needs a high protein, moderate fat, low carb diet (on carb intake I hold different opinions though).
- A dog is served what she/he needs to eat, not what she/he wants to or become addicted to eat.
- A dog should sleep at a regular time and have enough sleep.
- A dog needs to do exercise every day.
- A dog should not be abused.
- A dog should be loved.
To further elaborate on that, a dog who lives in a super rich aristocrat family but is constantly fed unhealthy food and is often deprived of sleep because the owner’s kids want to “play” probably is not happy. However, a dog who is taken care of by a homeless person who feeds the dog well with though minimal but balanced food and protects the dog from any harm coming from other people or the dog itself, probably is happy.
However, we don’t have an owner. We cannot abandon ourselves in the case of complete loss of hope. (Not that you should abandon a dog in any case.)
So, please. Have a good diet, eat what you should eat, sleep well, do exercise, don’t take on other people’s abuse and don’t abuse yourself, and love yourself.
