I get it. You need a lot of money, and you need a healthy body. But what are they really for?
For myself, I need both. But ultimately, they are acquired in order for me to experience a fulfilling spiritual life.
“Spiritual” here does not mean religion—though, of course, religion can be an important component of it. Rather, the spiritual realm is the cultivation of one’s inner world, the pursuit of deep personal meaning, and the connection to something larger than oneself. Anything that contributes to these can be deemed spiritually-enhancing. So, reading books, spending time with the ones you love, appreciating art, gaming, and keeping a pet should all count. And in that sense, possessing money and health is a spiritual experience in itself.
We need money and health so that we can expand our spiritual world whenever we want, as much as we want, and ideally, starting as young as possible. Conversely, if you cannot do the latter, the former is not working as it should.
